Q: I have never rented a vacation home before. How does this experience differ from renting a hotel or motel for my vacation?

A: First of all, we are thrilled that you are considering us for your first vacation rental experience! Choosing an individually owned home is much more spacious and private than a hotel room. In addition, you get a home away from home!  Which in this case includes a fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom and two outdoor spaces in the form of a front courtyard just off the mezzanine and a large back balcony facing the creekside.

Q: Does the Suite have Internet? If so, is it wireless high speed Internet?

A: Yes, our suite has free high speed wireless Internet provided. The Internet network details along with the login password will be provided to you via email.  They are also both posted on the side of the fridge.

Q: Are bed linens and towels included in the vacation rental fees?

A: Our suite comes fully equipped with linens for every bed including the sofa bed. We have also provided bath, hand, face and big blue pool towels, and kitchen linens.

Q: How do I check-in?

A: It’s quite simple really, 24 hours prior to your arrival, please contact our check-in service Maids Gone Green at 250-826-1354 to discuss your approximate arrival time at Suite 370.  Once you have arrived in Kelowna, contact Maids Gone Green again and one of their team will meet you at the main entrance of Playa del Sol Resort. They will show you around, take you to our suite and discuss any questions you may have at that time.

Q: How many keys, fobs, and garage door openers come with the suite?

A: You get 2 fobs (electronic keys) to gain access to the main entrance of the building and a garage door opener for the secure underground parking. The suite utilizes a keyless entry system, therefore you will receive your own personalized entry code upon check-in, as the code changes with every guest.

Q: What time is check-in? What time is check-out?

A: Check-in is 4 pm. Check-out is at 10 am. We need this time to prepare the suite for the next guests. However, if we are given advance notice, flexible check-in & check-out times may be possible depending on outgoing and incoming guests.

NOTE: A late check-in fee will apply for guests arriving after 8 pm.

Q: What do we do when it’s time to leave?

A: When it’s time to pack up and go, we don’t expect you scrub the place until it shines. However, we request that you leave the suite in a “clean & tidy” condition. Please dispose of all garbage, put all the towels in the bathtub, leave kitchen items clean, load & run the dishwasher and clean the BBQ with the wire brush provided. Please leave the electronic keys fobs and garage door opener on the kitchen counter and lock all windows and doors. Don’t forget to take all your devices and charging cables.

NOTE: If excessive cleaning is needed after your departure or if damage has occurred it may be deducted from your refundable damage deposit.

Q: How much money is due, and when?

A: For most rentals 25% of the total is due upon confirmation of the reservation and the 75 % balance plus a $500 refundable damage deposit is due 30 days prior to your arrival. 

Q: Do you require a damage deposit?

A: Yes, a refundable security/damage deposit of $500.00 CAD is due 30 days prior to arrival. When warranted, the deposit (or portion thereof) is refunded within 5 days of your departure via PayPal, Credit Card Refund or E-mail Money Transfer (depending on original method of payment). A “clean & tidy” requirement is requested upon departure. Please gather all garbage, recycling, place dirty towels in the tub and clean up the dishes. Please leave the suite in this reasonable state and the deposit will be refunded promptly, at the sole discretion the Owner.

Q: How can I pay for my deposit and final payment?

A: We accept Visa, Master Card, Amex, (all via PayPal), Direct PayPal Payment, as well as Email Money Transfers. No fees are charged for credit card processing.

Q: What is the damage deposit for and how do we get it back?

A: We require a $500.00 damage deposit to ensure our suite (your home when you’re away) is treated with respect and is left in a good condition. The damage deposit is refundable within (5) days of your departure, provided the following provisions are met:

1. No damage is done to the suite and its contents. 
2. No pets have been on the premises & there has been no smoking inside or outside the suite.
3. The suite is left in a “clean & tidy” condition. Guests make sure all dishes are clean or put into the dishwasher, all empty bottles, cans, garbage and recyclables are placed in appropriate building locations. Any room requiring excessive cleaning upon departure will be subject to additional cleaning charges.
4. No linens or towels are lost or damaged. 
5. The guests are not evicted by the owner, representative of the owner, police or on-site security.
6. The guests have not violated the Playa del Sol Resort Rules & Regulations and/or been subjected to a fine. 

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: Both the deposit and final rental payments are considered non-refundable upon receipt. However, in the event you needed to cancel your booking and we were able to re-rent the suite, we would provide you with a refund for those dates we were able to re-rent. Your $500 damage deposit would be immediately refunded if you were to cancel. Reservations may be modified or refunded at the sole discretion of the owner and are subject to an administration fee, to be determined at the time of refund or modification.

Q: Will you consider a small dog / declawed cat / well-behaved hairless dog / etc?

A:  Although we are animal lovers, unfortunately we do not allow pets, because it’s against Playa del Sol Resorts’ Rules & Regulations.

NOTE: If you happened to be traveling with your beloved pet we can highly recommend Bark n’ Fly ~ Dog Daycare & Boarding.

Q: Can we smoke in the suite, if we open a window? If we cannot smoke inside, can we smoke on balcony or patio?

A: No, ours is a non-smoking suite. Smoking is NOT allowed inside or outside; this applies to all occupants and guests. Consequently, your security deposit will be forfeited if smoke is detected in the rental unit.

Q: Your guest limit says “max 4 persons” can we bring 1 more person, like a baby, toddler, or child?

A: Our occupancy limits is 4 adults. However, we would consider (on a case by case bases) additional guests, if they are children. Additional guests would need to be agreed upon at the time of booking. 

Q: You state a 3 (or more) night minimum, will you make an exception?

A: Yes, we would consider a minimum 2-night stay provided our booking calendar can accommodate such a request. However, a cleaning charge of $100.00 CAD would be applicable in this case.

Q: Is your suite handicap accessible?

A: There is an elevator in the complex that makes our suite accessible, however we do have a “step down” both at the front entrance of the Suite and from the back creekside balcony that could add an extra challenge. This “step down” makes the suite not wheelchair accessible. Also, please note our bathroom is not equipped with handrails. So, depending on your personal needs, it would be your decision whether these limitations would be acceptable or pose any issues for you.

Q: Is the pool heated?

A: Yes, the pool is heated.

Q: How far is it to the closest beach?

A: Rotary Beach is literally across the road (450 meters north) on Lakeshore Road and Boyce-Gyro Beach is 1.2 kms away, just a little further along Lakeshore Road.

Q: What is the parking situation? Can you accommodate a full sized pick up?

A: Our suite comes with 1 parking stall (number 295) located on level 2 of the parkade. The main parkade entrance door (just to the left of the main entrance of the building) will open automatically as you approach. When you enter the parkade, immediately make a right turn where you will encounter a security gate. Use your garage door remote (center button) to open this gate and head up to level 2. There is 6 feet 11 inch (2.1 meters) clearance to the underground parkade, so most vehicles will fit. The parking stall itself is just to the right of the first pillar as you come to the top of the 2nd level. It’s large enough to accommodate a full sized pick up. Please do not park in any other stall, as a result you may be towed!

Q: Is there air conditioning?

A: Yes, the suite is equipped with central air conditioning. A wall-mounted thermostat next to the bathroom door controls the temperature.

Q: Are there a washer and dryer available in the suite or the complex?

A: Yes, there is an in-suite stackable washer and dryer. We also supply a complimentary starter supply of laundry detergent and softener.

Q: Do we need to adhere to a noise restriction policy or quite time?

A: Yes, quiet time is from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Playa del Sol Resort has a zero-tolerance policy for excessive noise and the resort security staff will answer noise complaints. It’s a family oriented complex, therefore not suitable for party groups. Fines and evictions without refunds have been known to occur at Playa del Sol Resort as a result on not adhering to this policy. 

Q: Do you have to be a certain age to rent your suite? Can my parents book the suite for my friends and me?

A:  The resort caters to family and mature adult group, therefore the primary renter must be over 25 years of age. Proof of age may be required for all guests upon check-in.

Q: Is there a phone in the suite?

A: Yes, the suite is equipped with a landline. Local calls are free. However, long distance calls are restricted to calling cards, collect calls and toll free numbers. The phone number for the suite is (236) 420-2008.

Q: What is the kitchen like?

A: If you enjoy cooking, you’ll love the kitchen. It’s fully equipped and you’ll find it has everything you’ll need to create great meals. In addition to a full-size fridge & freezer, dishwasher, microwave, electric cook top & oven, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, blender and crock pot. You’ll also find high quality cookware, bakeware, utensils, cutlery and flatware. If you prefer outdoor cooking, Suite 370 has a natural gas BBQ on the back creekside balcony.

NOTE: If you do not find any of these items in the suite, please inform us straight away so we can have them replaced as soon as possible.

Q: Are there any other amenities we should know about in the complex?

A: In addition to the outdoor pool and hot tub, Playa del Sol Resort complex has a fitness room all of which are located on the same level as Suite 370. There is also a games room with pool tables, dart board and TV located on level 6.

Three local businesses also call Playa del Sol Resort home: Basil & Mint Restaurant & BarEsther & Sons Cafe Ryders Spin & Barre Studio.

Q: Do I need to supply my own cleaning products & toiletries?

A: We provide you with a starter supply that includes a roll of paper towel, a couple rolls of toilet paper, a few garbage bags, basic cleaning products like dish soap, dishwasher detergent, as well as laundry detergent. Maids Gone Green provide both our check-in service as well as eco-friendly cleaning and they supply a complimentary starter set of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soap. 

NOTE: When your starter supply runs out, you will need to purchase these items for the remainder of your stay.

Q: What do we do with the garbage & recycling?

A: The garbage chute is located on the same level as Suite 370, near the elevator (across the hall from Suite 345). The recycling bins are located on the parkade ground level just inside the vehicle entrance door.

Q: If I have a problem with the suite what do I do?

A: We are always here to insure you have a wonderful stay with us, so located on the side of the fridge there is an emergency contact list with our local property manager, building manager, building security, and the cleaning /check-in service’s details.

Q: Do you provide cribs and highchairs?

A: In an effort to become more baby-friendly we have purchased a booster seat, but we do not have a crib, bassinet, or high chair yet. However, you can rent these as well as other baby equipment from local businesses such as Tiny Tourists. If you don’t want to bring your own.

Q: Is the suite cleaned daily during our stay?

A: No, our suite is cleaned before your arrival and after your departure. You can request a mid-stay clean from our cleaning service Maids Gone Green at an additional charge, which you would pay directly to them. Otherwise we have provided many cleaning products as well as cleaning equipment (mop, bucket, broom, dust-pan, vacuum cleaner etc.) for you to maintain the suite during your stay.

NOTE: A mid-stay clean includes: washing all sheets & towels, cleaning the bathroom & kitchen area, vacuuming & dusting, sweeping & mopping as well as refreshing your starter paper products.

Q: Can we throw a party at your suite?

A: No, Playa del Sol Resort has both vacation rentals suites as well as permanent residents that live there full time. We respect our surrounding homeowners desire for peace and quiet in the neighbourhood. There is a strict quiet time from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Playa del Sol Resort security will answer noise complaints. Fines and evictions without refunds for excessive noise violations have been known to occur.

Q: I want to bring my boat with me? Do you have a place for me to park it?

A: Suite 370 come with only 1 underground vehicle parking stall so we cannot accommodate a boat & trailer within the Playa del Sol Complex. However, there is a marina literally across the street which offers a couple of options to boat owners:

Aqua Marine Valet offer a boating service with short & long term boat storage.
Hotel Eldorado offers moorage and parking services.

Q: Why should we choose your vacation rental property over staying at a hotel?

A: Our guests love the homey feel that our suite provides and choose to stay with us for a several reasons. First, staying in a hotel can be double if not triple the cost of a well-equipped vacation rental. Often a family of four or more require additional rooms to accommodate everyone. Our suite allows an entire family (and even additional friends and relatives) to stay together under one roof. Most hotels don’t have kitchens, forcing guests to eat out at restaurants for all their meals. At our suite, our guests can cook, prepare snacks and BBQ at their “home away from home”, saving money and offering a fun, casual environment for dining.
